Against the backdrop of Kashmir, the young love of Radha and Shyam is born. Alas they live on opposites banks of the river, Radha on the poor side, Shyam on the rich. Radha's father, Rana, goes to Shyam's guardian, Thakur, to offer his daughter in marriage, but to no avail. What neither of them know, is that Radha is really the long lost daughter of Thakur, who he had pledged to Shyam, when the boy's parents were still alive.
