Partition solves no problems it only aggravates no better testimony than the moral that will be imbibed from this star studed familyfare, showing a happy joint family on the verge of total wreck, which is saved when the prodigal returns home, repentent and awakened, swallo- wing the bitter pill doled by Fate that transorms him. . Following Partition, a respectable Peshawari family-Dhaniram with his aged father, wife 3 sons Kundan, Pran and Madan, and wives of Kundan and Pran is reduced into distressed refugees in Dehra Dun where Dhani- ram runs a chemist shop and does lucrehonest business, aided by Kundan and Pran. Dhanirams refusal to collaborate in bazar merchants profi- teerism bagets their wrath. A bazar-bully failing in extortion-attempt and insulted by Dahniram avenges by stabbing Dhaniram on Diwali night. Misery shrouds the family when mammon-crazy Pran, instigated by wily Dalal, ignores Kundandas sermos, and trades ignobly leading to domest- ic discord. Family estate is partitioned by Pran who corners the shop for himself, leaving to share of Kundan & other only a gold image of family deity, Dhanirams golden turban-trinket and a cow and also a brickwall is ercted in the house. Kundan toils hard as a stonecutter alias contractor, but Prans vendetta chases him. Pran is once arrested tried and convicted to a six-mothe jail-term or Rs.2500/- Fine for a tracherous Dalal on false pretects of helping his acqittal. Kundan, hospitalised in a mining accident, rushes home on hearing about Prans conviction and is forced to pawn family deitys image for money to pay the court fine. But Pran believes that family-freind Charandas has saved him from Kundans plot. Pran returns home to finds his osn injured in a fall, needing medicines which he is bluntly refused in the bazar where good old fruitseller admonishes Pran and enlightens him about Kundans nobility and counsels clean confession before mother. Pran at home-gate is refused admission by furious grand pa, but hi mother, pining to help him by passing on the turban-trinket through pierced wall-hole, has her neck sandwiched in the hole. The wall is brokn up leading to lasting reunion of herts under the family roof.
