A simple woman in a village sends her son with an amulet to present himself before the sick king and do as he says. . This simple village lad Badal who has lived his life in poetry goes to town and he is misunderstood by everybody he meets firstly by Bijuriya daughter of Hotel keeer Sheroo who mistakes his poetry for the vice of love-then by Sheroo who mistakes his simple ways as efforts to fool his daughter-then by the Palace guarda whn he tries to see the king- and lastly by Minaldey sister of Senapati when he enters her bedroom to escape the palace guards. . The puzzled youth trying to escape from the palace sees the king being murdered by the Mahamantri. . Sheroo realising the bravery of this boy Badal becomes his friend and both of them decide to raise their voice against the Mahamantri and his despotic actions and Azad Shair the poet of rebellion is born. . No one knows who Azad Shair is-? Is he an old man-or a young man or a woman but every one hears the voice of Azad Shair and rebellion is roused in the heart of the people against the tyrant Mahamantri. . Mahamantri orders a Darbar to marry Meenaldey and proclaim himself king when the rightful heir to the throne declares himslef.
