Gayetri (Jaya Prada) was a happily married girl.... madly in love with her husband (Raakesh Roshan). Their only child a girl was also a source of great joy for them. Gayetris mother-in-law (Seema) also looked after her family very well. . Theri homely peace was, however, sometimes distur bed by Gayetris occasional shrieks on account of some kind of an unseen fear. She could only feel it but could not analyse it. Her parents (Dr.Shreeram Lagoo and Nirupa Roy) had dismissed her mental attacks as the obsess- ion of a woman who was a frightened child right from her childhood. . The day came when Gayetri lost her only daughter and could not save her from being drowned in a well since she was under the spell of her mental attack. This broke every ones heart... and also the family. They divorced each other and Gayetri shifted to her parents hosue. . A broken man. Gayetirs husband lived his life for sometime and ultimately agreed to marry another girl (Yogeeta Bali) as forced by the persistent desire of his mother. . Gayetri, even after divorce, was a frequent visitor to her former husbands house.... and this embarrassed every one around but he did not mind her visits because what ever she did was done under the influence of her mental attacks. . And one day. Gayetri got on the truth. God helped her with a divine power in her and she eliminated all the forces responsible for the ruination of her peace and home.
