The film is based on Nauka Dubi, a Tagore story that explores the ups and downs of romance and the role of destiny in love's fruition. Law student Ramesh (Jishu Sengupta) loves the talented and educated uptown girl, Hemnalini (Raima Sen) but is forced to marry an illiterate village girl (Riya Sen), on the behest of his father. He finds out his bride is already married and was separated from her husband (Prasanjit) after a boat accident. Will he manage to re-unite the simple village girl with her husband and fulfill his own love story or will fate intervene once again?
