Ramesh Rajaram Powar pronunciation (help info) (born 20 May 1978 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian cricketer. He is a useful lower order batsman and off spinner who plays in the Indian ODI team. Powar was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Powar has impressed Indian selectors with consistent performances in domestic cricket since his debut. Not only did he take 20 wickets but despite batting in the lower order he finished as the second-highest run scorer for his side with 418 runs at 46. However, in January 2007, he was dropped from the squad because of inury and Anil Kumble returned as the second spinner in the lead up to the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Ramesh Powar featured in the 5 best players of Indias domestic season 2005-2006.
