Aarya Babbar was born at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai into a well-known family; his father is the renowned actor Raj Babbar and his mother the prominent theatre personality Nadira Zaheer Babbar. From childhood he wanted to become an actor and at the age of ten joined the Ekjute Theatre Group set up and run by his mother.

He made his film debut at the age of 19 but has had little success – his only notable role was in the movie Jail, for which he was nominated for an award at the 2010 International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) awards.
