Vat Purnima is celebrated in Maharashtra and Karnataka, India. Its a festival on which women pray for prosperity and longevity of their husbands by tying threads around a banyan tree known as Vata.
The festival gets celebrated with honour to Savitri who rescued her husband's soul from the ruler of the departed, Yama.
Women keep fast For their husbands, and even during pooja pray for husband's long life and pray him in her life for all births.
