Sunny Deol has reportedly agreed to headline a remake of the 1987 hit film Hukumat, which featured Dharmendra and Rati Agnihotri as lead pair. The proposed remake would be helmed by Anil Sharma, who also directed the original. Sunny and dad Dharmendra have co-starred in several films, but Sunny has never reprised a role played by his dad.
Hukumat, the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1987, had a record 75 weeks run in one theater. Quizzed by Mid Day on the report, Anil Sharma was ambivalent. "It is too early to talk about it as I am busy with another film. There is no other actor better than Sunny to play the lead. Only he can do justice to Dharamji's character," he told Mid-Day. Prakash Raj will play the villain (originally played by Sadavshiv Amrapurkar). Sharma also plans to reuse one of the Laxmikant- Pyarelal tracks from the original - Na Zulm.
