Southern actress Taapsee considers herself one lucky girl. She is all set to make her Bollywood debut under the direction of David Dhawan, and she is mighty pleased. She got a break in the Hindi film industry with ‘Chashme Badoor’, which is a remake of the 1981 Deepti Naval and Faroof Shaikh starrer by the same name. The makers were keen that Taapsee does not get her fashion wrong in the first outing itself, so they roped in Karisma Kapoor to mentor her. She arranged extensive training and was giving tips on what is right to wear, and what are the right words to use during media interactions. It can be noted that Karisma Kapoor and David Dhawan go back a long way with hits like ‘Biwi No. 1’ and ‘Judwaa’ among others. Taapsee hails from Delhi and started her career with Tamil and Telugu films.
She studied engineering and was never keen to make a career out of films; however, fate had other plans. It was her mother, who was keen to see her in movies. Tapasee tried her hand at modeling for some fun, and that is how she started receiving good offers down south. Taapsee quipped, “I am debuting under David Dhawan, I couldn`t have got luckier than this. My struggle will now begin when it comes to signing the second movie because my launch down South was very good and with Bollywood also I am getting the best. I don`t want to settle for anything.” The trailers have been much appreciated by the viewers, and the film released yesterday. She is just hopeful that the viewers accept her for the character and do not compare her with Deepti Naval.
When asked about her character, Taapsee said, “It is a little unfair to compare the characters without seeing the movie. We have just taken the name and the base storyline. My character you cannot even think of comparing it with Deepti ma`am. My character is very rebellious and out of the box, where as Deepti ma`am`s was of a very coy, saari clad women. If I would have to do that, I would have had a nervous breakdown.” The actress is keen to make a mark in Bollywood and not just become another commercial heroine. In her first film itself, Taapsee will be seen alongside Rishi Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma. After 4 years of missing in action, David Dhawan decided to direct this comedy.
