From being a Nobody, this tinsel town dashing dude catapulted to super shot fame and glory with a Method-ical performance in his debut vehicle. But Ranveer Random Singh is as random as it gets. In Kolkata to shoot for his hugely anticipated Gunday, Ranveer Singh opened up on playing the lead in an action film. From his Band Baaja Baaraat days this dramebaaz yet so volatile actor longed to do a grueling action film. With Gunday coming along, that wish remains to be fulfilled, he says, “Maneesh clearly told me after directing me in both his films that I am a guy tailor made for action. He always considered me to be an action hero. Then when YRF offered me Gunday, I could not just refuse it. Thanks to the Almighty I am getting everything I desired for and that too just at the right time.
” But as we all know it, this self proclaimed masochist has ended up hurting himself once again on the sets of the Abbas Ali Zafar directorial in Kolkata when pieces of shredded glass pierced into his bare feet. “I am so frustrated now. I cracked up my ankle and now this. My mom calls it to be buri nazar ka prakop (Laughs out Loud). The feet injury happened the day the music of Lootera released. I stepped onto the glass unknowingly and man, oh man it was such a lot of pain. I had stitches there (pointing to his injured feet)”, gushed our lovable and oh-so-adorable prankster. But Ranveer is known to be the energetic and the non-stop banda he portrays on screen, hence there’s no stop on his professional edges, despite the painful accident. “Well, I did shoot a couple of scenes post the accident and it went off well
. The only thing is that I had to be carried on in a wheelchair but I finished the shoot. I am so restless that I cannot stay back at home without work even for two-three days. And Lootera had already propelled for a three month bed rest. That was way too harsh”, smiled Ranveer who looked daper in his usual casual white tee and faded denims. Adapted on the story of Bikram and Bala, the two goons who end up turning into a big shot coal mafia, Ranveer plays the boisterous Bikram with ease and comfort. “Bikram is totally like me. Naughty, spunky and heavily boisterous, Bikram is completely me and the part that the world gets to know of Ranveer Singh.
While Lootera is the emotional side of me which only my close friends and family get to see of me” were the golden words from Ranveer who is all set to sizzle on screen after a one and a half year break. And the recent link ups with Deepika Padukone has put him back to the space that he’s donned throughout his two and half year career span: the Casanova. Ranveer does not really shy away from the tag and when prompted about his alleged link ups with all his co-stars, he brushed aside everything calling it “completely normal”. Ask him the reason and he laughs out loud saying, “Since we (they) all fall in the same age bracket of actors and I love women. Yes it does not bother me but at times it really upsets and angers me because journalists become heavily judgmental of my character which is unfair.”
