It was a night to honour women; the L’Oreal Femina Women Awards 2013 saw a galaxy of stars turn out to honour “Women of Worth” in several categories from sports, education, art, entertainment and business. Beautiful, stylish and sexy from Bollywood were in their fashionable best at the awards ceremony. Of course, L’Oreal brand-ambassadors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor were also conspicuous by their presence and even gave out awards to some of the winners. Sonam Kapoor is one actress who never disappoints you as far as style is concerned. Sonam wore a black lace top and a black and red, asymmetrical floral skirt by Atsu Sekhose. She accessorized it with a black bling hair band (almost like a tiara) and a black clutch.

Femina Women Awards: Aishwarya Rai's latest fashion disaster

It was nice to see Aishwarya Rai back in western wear. Since her pregnancy and birth of daughter Aaradhya, Ash always played safe wearing Indian traditional suit (Salwar Kameez or an Anakali) with covered sleeves. Ash faced quite a backlash for her extra bulge post pregnancy and probably the reason she stuck to Indian attire. However, this attempt by the former Miss World is rather welcoming. The dark eye make-up highlighted her light eyes and took the attention away from the fuller cheeks. She wore a shimmering Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna gown. But we wonder, why did Ash opt for a blazer over the gown? The blazer was a complete turn off and it did nothing for her! Aishwarya gave away the Readers' choice award for Social Impact to Chetna Gala Sinha at the awards gala. Shabana Azmi, Nandita Das, Gauri Shinde, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar, Neha Dhupia and Farah Khan added glamour to the award function.

The awards were given to the women who have outstandingly performed in different fields including art, music, education, business and film. Actress Vidya Balan, who came dressed in her trademark saree, grabbed the 'Women We Love' award. The evening also saw power packed performances by Shubha Mudgal, The Diva Project- Manasi Scott and an act from the critically acclaimed play ‘The Vagina Monologues’. The Bollywood ladies also kept the style stakes high with their designer dresses. Newly married Vidya Balan can never go wrong with her saris. We love the sindoor (vermillion) she put on her forehead with a broad smile. Neha Dhupia looked smart and confident in Anaikka top worn with an Ranna Gill maxi-skirt. And her hair was neatly tied in a pony.
