Ajay’s ‘Singham’ to beat Salman’s ‘Ready’ Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham’, that seems to be garnering plaudits from every quarter, has triumphed with supremacy after having broken several box-office records, making it not just the biggest release of last week, but also the second biggest hit of the year. This Ajay’s Devgan-starrer, which is a remake of Tamil film ‘Singham’, has successfully grossed 32.55 crore in its opening weekend and apparently, seems to have gotten closer to Salman’s ‘Ready’ which initially grossed 42 crore on the first weekend. Ajay’s ‘Singham’ has done well at single-screens According to the box-office reports, ‘Singham’ has managed to gather Rs. 9.30 crore in its releasing day, while over the weekend it collected around 10.50 crore -12.75 crore. Speaking about the success of ‘Singham’, trade analyst Amod Mehra stated, “Singham is a fantastic film. Ajay Devgn has done a spectacular job. The movie is doing amazing business at single-screens.

“But Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) still takes the cream at the multiplexes. The movie had no good music, no big heroine, no foreign locations, no big sets, no sidekicks, and no sex and rape scenes. It only has a solo biggie and that is Ajay Devgn. However, it is the content that is high on entertainment and is proving good for the film’s business.”

‘Singham’ catered to the masses, says Rohit Shetty Director Rohit Shetty, who is riding high on the success of ‘Singham’, recently stated that his cop-based commercial film does cater to the masses. “Honestly, the feeling hasn’t sunk in as yet. Singham catered to the masses. There haven’t been many recent films made on a cop and villain story,” said the ‘Singham’ director.

Ajay, who has succeeded by playing solo, has stolen all the limelight in this cop film and speaking about the actor, Rohit said that he can mould the actor into any given character. “I always keep Ajay in mind when I’m writing a character. I can mould him in any character and he just goes with the flow. He doesn’t question my vision and if I ask him to do a scene in a certain way, he just takes it from there. So there is a definite comfort level, but I do want to work with other actors too,” said Rohit.
