Yesterday, we reported that the makers of the upcoming Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi starrer Jolly LLB had been served a legal notice by a Meerut based lawyer. Today we hear that the makers have received two more notices. Apparently, one of the notices is from Manjit Singh Jolly, who has demanded a change in the name of the film because he says people are ridiculing him. While the second notice is from a Delhi- based law firm SC Gupta and Ankkit, that has raised an objection to the fact that Arshad Warsi, who in the film misspells appeal for apple and prosecution for prostitution in his pleadings to the Court and that referring to the Meerut University as his alma mater, is derogatory to the institution.
Though confirming the fact that they have received the said notices, director Subhash Kapoor states that the film in no way is meant to disrespect or demean either the lawyers or the country's judicial system, adding that certain dialogues are used within a certain context in the film. Further adding to Kapoor's statements, Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studios, confirms the receipt of the notices saying that currently their legal team is studying the notices and preparing a response. However, they are surprised since they feel that lawyers would be proud of the film post watching it.
