In case of Kapoor, who continued to work on TV, things changed after he became part of films like 'Udaan' 'Student of the Year' and now Aditya Chopra's home production film 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'. "I think that has helped me. Lot of people told me if I do so much of TV then how will I go into films. But I choose never to think like that. I believe in doing good work and your time will work. Today the best of Bollywood filmmakers like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Saif Ali Khan are giving me work here... I am working with the biggest people," he said. "All of them have told me what a connect I have with people. I still feel this is the just the beginning... TV has a long way to go. I am happy," he added.

The 39-year-old feels that TV today has grown a lot and that the gap between TV and films is getting lesser. "TV is like a power house medium. This is just the beginning. I feel 10-15 years from now Indian television is going to be like American TV... it is going to be that big. It is the fastest growing industry," Kapoor said. "People like Amitabh Bachchan and others have realised its reach and connectivity with the masses, which is why the gap between the two mediums TV and films is getting lesser... which is the case in America," he said.

Kapoor, who has been part of both the mediums, insisted that for him both are same and he does not treat them differently. "For me both are same. I have taken a decision that I want to be an actor. I did not say to myself that I want to be a TV actor or a film actor. I will ensure I don't think like that. Wherever I get to do good work I will do it. Supposing if I don't get good roles in films then I will definitely go for TV," he said.
"After having releases like 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', 'Monsoon Wedding', 'Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow', the offers were not good in films so I went back to doing TV again. I did 'Kasam Se' and another show," he added. Though he did act in quite a few films earlier but 'Udaan' did wonders for Kapoor. "Now after doing a film like 'Udaan' things have changed and I am getting good offers so I am doing films. But today also I never want to choose things. But whenever I don't get good offers in films I will happily go back to doing TV," he said.

Considering Kapoor has been part of both of the worlds, there are challenges as well. "My date problems are solved by my business manager. He is taking care of things. I love my work so much that I don't find things difficult. The approach of doing both TV and films - are different. On TV sets everything is fast.. on film sets it is relaxed, there is discussion. Both are different and challenging," he said. Kapoor will be seen next in 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti', a comedy directed by Ashima Chibber, featuring Saqib Saleem and Prabal Panjabi in lead roles. The Yash Raj film is a comedy set against the backdrop of a loud Punjabi wedding in Chandigarh and it tells the story of a boy who sneaks out his father's fancy new car to impress a college girl. "The story is about my son robbing my car then a confusion sort of thing happens. It is an over-the-top comedy. It is a family entertainer," Kapoor said. The film will hit the theaters on March 15.
