Today at a special event in Mumbai, the incredible brass statue of the late Yash Chopra for the Bollywood Walk of Fame was revealed. Pamela Chopra, along with son Uday, were there at YRF studios to unveil the statue, which will take its place on the walk on February 15th. The statue joins Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Dev Anand’s statues as well as the hand prints of stars like Anupam Kher, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Sri Devi and more on the path located along the Bandra Bandstand promenade.
Talking about the legendary director, Mrs. Chopra said, “Yashji was a dreamer. He was a man who didn’t just make romantic movies or romanced cinema, he romanced life, with love as the most important ingredient. Yashji understood the ever evolving nature of love, and brought alive its multiple facets on the silver screen during his career spanning over 60 years. Yash Chopra has been, is and shall always be the King of Romance in my life and in the lives of his fans.”
Also there to support the family was Rani Mukherjee who was moved to tears on seeing the statue “It is a great moment for all the people who loved Yash uncle and those who are associated with the family. We will all miss him.” Son Uday said, “He will be remembered for his work. I have seen him live so it’s a different feeling and as rightly said, now his admirers can touch him and feel him. This the right way to remember him.” About the statue Mrs. Chopra said, “I want to thank UTV for this initiative because people forget… We all tend to do so. But with this statue, we will not forget him. I really like the statute, especially with this favorite cap and his camera.”
