After storming the virtual world, spawning countless clones and inspiring endless parodies, PSY’s Gangnam Style has finally landed in Bollywood. While international production houses and event management companies were lobbying hard for the video rights of the K-pop single, Vashu Bhagnani’s company has bought it for an undisclosed amount, according to sources. The deal, which excludes the rights of Korea and Japan, was sealed late on Wednesday. The song will be used in Bhagnani’s upcoming film, Rangrezz.

A source told Mumbai Mirror: “It is a matter of pride to own the rights of the video. The deal had failed twice and Vashu had lost all hope. It was his son Jackky who was instrumental in closing the deal. He made several trips to LA to convince the music label. And yesterday, he surprised his father with the printed document of the deal.”

And owning the rights of the most viewed video comes with a hefty price tag. Asked, how the producer expects to recover the exorbitant amount spent on buying the rights of a video, a source, close to the developments, says: “The satellite price of the movie will be high and the company intends to release far more prints overseas than it usually does. Although Jackky is talented, his career graph hasn’t been that good so far. The video will create more interest for Rangrezz and ensure better box office returns. Moreover, it would provide him an opportunity to flaunt his dancing skills.  "About the picturization, the source said: "The song has mass appeal and Vashu may shoot in real locations in Mumbai."
