In her next project ‘Bullet Raja’ which Sonakshi Sinha starts shooting in January the super sucessful actress who has starred in a number of blockbusters in the past two years, plays a failed actress from Bollywood who goes to Uttar Pradesh and becomes a huge Bhojpuri star. The role, one is told by a reliable source, is inspired by actress Nagma who actually started off in Hindi cinema, failed to make much headway, headed to the South where she became the No.1 actress.
From the South Nagma headed to Bhojpuri cinema where she was again the reigning queen for several years. “The challenge for Sonakshi who is currently one of the top Bollywood actresses, is to play an unsuccessful Bollywood actress. She would really have work hard on it. It’s like Sunidhi Chauhan being asked to sing badly. Then from a failed Bollywood actress Sonakshi would be shown as a reigning queen in Bhojpuri cinema. For this she needs to really prepare herself,” says a source.
When contacted the director Tigmanshu Dhulia admits that Sonakshi plays a failed Bollywood, super-hit Bhojpuri actress. Said Dhulia, “The role has certain elements from one actress’ life. Sonakshi plays a Bengali girl who first heads to Mumbai, fails to make an impact in Bollywood and then becomes a rage in Bhojpuri cinema. It’s a very challenging role with loads of dips curves and humour. Considering how well Sonakshi is doing for herself it would be a challenge to see her play a struggler from Bollywood heading to Bhojpuri cinema.”
