Katrina Kaif's much hyped item number for Salman Khan's BODYGUARD went on floors yesterday. However contrary to popular misconception, she is neither recreating her own 'Sheila Ki Jawani' nor turning 'Munni Badnaam' for Salman. In fact she won't be switching tracks by turning into a Bond girl either, as has been reported in some sections of media. Instead, the song would carry a 'desi' flavour to it while catering to the festive mood of the film that releases this Eid. "It is amusing how everyone starts jumping to conclusions without any rhyme or reasons. Just because Katrina is doing an item number doesn't mean that she has to turn 'Sheila' each time around. Even she likes variety in her films. For her item number in BODYGUARD, she has been given an entirely new look," says a source connected to the film.
The song would also feature Salman Khan in his bodyguard uniform. However yet again the myth around him turning into 'desi' James Bond has been dispelled. "The song has a very Indian feel to it with festive beats adding on to the rhythm. In fact you also hear it play in the background of the film's promo. Do you sense anything close to James Bond theme anywhere in the promo," questions the source..
Put to tune by Himesh Reshammiya, this title track is one of the many special attractions that the composer has created for his return with 'Bhai'. No wonder, producer Atul Agnihotri has been left mighty impressed as well though he is amused at constantly growing talks of the song following from where 'Munni' and then 'Sheila' left.
"The song is entirely different from the likes of 'Munni' and 'Sheila' though it carries an intrinsic fun element to it," he says, "As for the James Bond theme then well, all that Salman is doing is wearing a black suit. If someone wants to say that this makes him a James Bond then so be it."
