“I Didn’t Want Myself To Try Being Western” – PC On Her International VideoPriyanka Chopra has managed to cross international shores. Music video of her single ‘In My City’ is finally out and features her along with Will.I.Am. As she celebrates the coming together of two distinct styles and gets ready to promote the song internationally (starting with Canada), Priyanka gets talking about how she wanted to represent today’s India in the video.

One sees a lot of Indian flavour in the video, despite it being targeted for international audience. An intentional call?
Absolutely. There is a lot of Bollywood dancing in there as in my heart I was sure that I wanted to represent today’s India. There is a flavour of an inherent culture that we Indian boast of and moreover I also wanted to bring in some traditional stuff. However it couldn’t be primitive and you can see a good fusion in the overall styling.

With the song finding an overseas audience for itself, is it also one big step towards making it big outside the world of Bollywood and step into some international projects as well?
Well it could be! I haven’t really thought much about in that kind of way though. My core intent was to put out a song that I am really proud of and do a video which made sense as well. I didn’t want myself to try being Western here; I wanted to be me. I represent young India of today which is a blend of East and West.

Meanwhile life in general seems to be beautiful for you. After all the rewards last year, there are awards that have started coming in as well. Professionally life has been fulfilling. I am grateful for what I have achieved and received. I am looking forward to coming months with Zanjeer, Gunday and Krrish 3 this year. Then I am also gearing up to begin shooting for the Mary Kom biopic. With so many good things happening to you, especially after a brief period of turmoil last year, it is surprising that you still seem to be relatively quiet about the highs you are enjoying. See, I am not someone who is insecure. I am quite content professionally. The only thing that I believe in is working and more of that. There is nothing else that I can control. I have been working since the age of 17 and don’t know how to do anything else.
