Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt will unite on screen for the first time in Rajkumar Hirani's next film, Peekay. The two superstars, known to be friends, have never come together on screen despite the fact that Aamir has been a Bollywood leading man for almost 25 years now and Sanjay made his debut as a hero in 1981. Peekay has garnered a lot of hype ever since it was announced, primarily due to the fact that the film marks the return of Aamir and Hirani after their record buster hit of 2009, 3 Idiots.
The names of Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Imran Khan are doing the rounds, as Aamir co-star in the film that stars Anushka Sharma as the female lead. After much deliberation, Hirani announced budding Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput in the role of the younger actor with Aamir. Now, Sanjay has been added to the cast for an important role in the film. Hirani's connection with Sanjay goes back to the inception of his career. The filmmaker made his debut with the 2003 comedy hit, Munna Bhai MBBS, and followed it up with its blockbuster sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, in 2006. Rajkumar Hirani's Peekay is about corruption in religion
In Peekay, Sanjay will play a Rajasthani villager while Aamir is said to be essaying the role of an idealist alcoholic man. Industry insiders say Sanjay will be playing a pivotal role. According to sources, Hirani had Arshad Warsi in mind for the role being offered to Sanjay. However, the dates Arshad would be required to give for Peekay clashed with his commitment for Dedh Ishqiya, Vishal Bhardwaj's sequel to Ishqiya. Hirani's Peekay is a satire that addresses the issue of corruption in religion. Unconfirmed sources state the film's story had similarities with OMG! Oh My God, and Aamir asked for a rewriting of the script.
