TV not bigger than Bollywood, says Tusshar KapoorFrom action to emotion, he has tried it all. But it's his comic timing that has fetched him the most accolades. And he accepts it too. "My personality is such that people prefer me as a comedian," grins Tusshar Kapoor during an interaction with AT when he was in town to perform a live stunt sequence for his upcoming film Shootout at Wadala. "Your personality makes a lot of difference. I am not the typical tall, muscular action hero. But you can put all those stereotypes to rest with good acting. Aamir Khan broke the notion with Ghajini, he actually brought the trends of action movies back.

He is not the typical action hero either. And I wish to break that notion about me with Shootout at Wadala." So does he relate to action roles? Tusshar says, "I am a funny guy at heart and that comes out on the screen when I am doing comedies, but at the same time, there is an angry man within me as well, just like all of us. And it's this frustrated, irritated and filled with angst inner self that comes out when I am doing action movies. I relate to both kind of roles."

But what does he feel about over the top comedies that have received audience's love, but have faced criticism at the same time. Tusshar is all for such films. He says, "Slapstick comedies will never die. Such humor has always existed and always will. The audiences have loved it, accepted it and want it more and this shows with all recent comedies making big at the box office. There will always be people to criticize things." So he doesn't mind being a part of such films? And he is quick to respond, "I want to do films that people like. For me, the commercial success is important.

If a film is not liked by the audience, it gets lost in the memory lane in no time, no matter how good the movie is. I don't mind offbeat films, but there has to have a commercial element in it. I can't do pretentious cinema." Tusshar, who is now set to make his small screen debut as a judge on a comedy series, feels there couldn't have been a better way for him to take on TV. "Television is such a huge medium to connect with your audience. It can make or break a career in no time. Bollywood is also looking towards television more and more for promoting the films. But in spite of that, Bollywood will always be the big boss."
