In 2010, despite the success of Love Sex Aur Dhoka, actress Nushrat Bharucha was confused about where her career was heading. Though she received a lot of appreciation for her role, the future looked bleak. “It was a tough period. Except my father, no one from my family was supportive of my decision to become an actress. I started doubting my career choice too,” she recollects.

And then Pyaar Ka Punchnama happened. From the scared and simple Shruti of LSD, Nushrat transformed into the daring and domineering Neha. The pretty lass won a lot of accolades for her performance and the film went on to become a BO hit. “After seeing LSD, Luv Ranjan was sure about casting me in his next film. He trusted my potential as an actress,” she says. Her next film Akaash Vani that releases later this month is also directed by Luv Ranjan. So what is her role all about? “It’s a very simple story and yet it conveys an important message. I play the role of Vani who is in love with a guy but at the same time doesn’t want to go against the wishes of her family. This dilemma is something many girls can relate to,” she says. The film will see Nushrat cast opposite her Pyaar Ka Punchnama co-star Kartik Tiwari once again. Speaking of her experience of working with him, Nushrat says, “We became great friends on the sets of our earlier film. Akaash Vani required the lead actors to be comfortable with each other. It was very easy working with him and a lot of fun.”

Nushrat’s father has been actively involved in the field of theater and that is where she believes she got her love for acting from. “I grew up watching his passion for theater. When I decided to become an actress, only he understood and supported my decision. Everyone else was worried because they felt so many things could go wrong. And seeing my struggle, they had their share of doubts too,” she says. At the beginning of her career, she did two television shows, namely, Kitty Party and Seven. Does she intend to get back to television and she immediately replies, “I will never do television again. I am not a person who can work for more than 15 hours a day. And the working conditions in TV are not worth it.”
