Revathi returns to BollywoodA number of south directors are making Bollywood films this year. Among them is actor-director Revathi, who disappeared from Hindi cinema after directing a multi-lingual film, Mitr: My Friend (2002) and Phir Milenge (2004), which starred Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan.

Actor Jackie Shroff confirms the news. He says, “Revathi is making a feature film in Hindi and I am eager to work with her.” A source adds, “She is in talks with several actors and is narrating her script to all of them.” Revathi’s Bollywood repertoire includes acting in films like Love (1991), Raat (1992) and more recently, Darna Marna Hai (2003), Ab Tak Chhappan (2004) and Nishabd (2007). Post that, she directed Makal, a segement in the short film Kerala Café (2009) and Parcel, a segment in Mumbai Cutting (2011).

Jackie refuses to divulge details about the new project, saying, “I’m not sure about the genre. I’ll be meeting her soon to read the script.” The actor is currently busy with debutant director Karan Butani’s yet-untitled film, an action-drama set in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh. Hinting that Revathi’s comeback to Bollywood is a big film, he adds, “I’m not sure who else has been approached or signed as I haven’t met her as yet, but from the brief I got, it’s not going to be a small project.”
