Bold, brazen and outspoken, Anushka Sharma’s on screen avatar in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a far cry from her real persona. The actress who has been portraying strong characters on screen, describes herself as simple yet unpredictable.
“What I play on screen is completely opposite to my real personality. Yes, I can be very unpredictable,” she confesses. Despite being a sought after star in Bollywood, Anushka seems to be a grounded person. “The glitz and glamor has come only now. I was never a spoilt brat. My father was very strict if we didn’t like something at the dinner table he would tell us to go hungry or eat what was served. We were never pampered,” she says.
However, she does admit to being self-obsessed to a certain extent. “It’s an occupational hazard. If I don’t seek attention, I can’t be an actress. Each day, I slog hard to seek attention.” Anushka, who is nicknamed Meena Kumari, in Matru... is wary of comparisons. “Of course it scared me. Meena Kumari was a great actress. I can never be compared to her,” she says.
As you say, Anushka.
