Bollywood has always believed that the movies which release in the first week of January fail at the box office. However, 2011 began on a positive note for Bollywood with 'No One Killed Jessica', which released on January 7, doing well at the box office.

Bollywood ignores the January jinx

The movie that starred Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan was based on the murder of Jessica Lal. It was the first movie in many years that was released in the first week of January, yet did well at the box office. However, in 2012, the January Jinx returned to haunt Bollywood once again. Abbas-Mustan's ambitious project Players that starred Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Neil Nitin Mukesh, which released on January 6 failed at the box office.

This year Bollywood seems to be all set to ignore the January Jinx. There are four movies that will be trying their luck at the box office this week. There's Rajeev Khandelwal, Paresh Rawal and Tena Desae starrer Table No 21, which is a thriller.
Leander Paes will make his debut on the big screen with Rajdhani Express - Point Blank Justice, while Daler Mehndi's son Gurdeep Mehndi will step on the silver screen with Meri Shadi Karao this week. Also in the running is Dehradun Diary that stars Adhyayan Suman, Rohit Bakhshi, Ragini Nandwani, Ashwini Kalsekar and Rati .
