Shah Rukh finds it difficult to cast his leading lady for 'Happy New Year'. Almost a year back actress Priyanka Chopra was a hot favorite with the Shah Rukh Khan camp. No sooner did news of her special ‘friendship’ with SRK started doing the rounds, wife Gauri Khan banned husband from working with the actress.
Priyanka was blacklisted by certain sections of Bollywood and was written off by the media as 'untouchable'. Surely Priyanka learnt her lessons and nursing her broken heart, after SRK severed all ties, she went straight to Salman Khan.
Priyanka tried her best to get back to Salman's good books and probably managed to get a toe-hold. She has been spotted spending time with Salman and his family. Few weeks back Priyanka accompanied Salman to Dubai for a concert during the National Day celebrations.
Priyanka may have had a troublsome 2012 but her 2013 is choc-o-block with 'Krrish 3', 'Zanjeer', 'Gunday' and 'Mary Kom'. Now suddenly news emerges that Shah Rukh wants to work with Priyanka again.
His next film 'Happy New Year' to be directed by Farah Khan needs a top notch heroine. And finding an A-list actress is posing a trouble. Deepika Padukone’s name emerged but was dismissed as she is already doing 'Chennai Express' with SRK. Kareena Kapoor has 'Satyagraha' and is also not interested in signing any films now.
Then there is Katrina Kaif who was Shah Rukh Khan's first choice but the lady was insipid towards the offer. Considering she just finished 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' with SRK it was more likely that Katrina will grab it. But that was not to be. Katrina thawed SRK's every attempt to solidify their pairing. The actress even rejected an offer by SRK to perform with him in Dubai.
That leaves Shah Rukh with very little choice and is probably the reason why Priyanka is being considered despite wife Gauri's disapproval. The 47 year old actor had a good run as far as his leading ladies are concerned. He has been paired with some brilliant actresses in the past. But age is definitely a factor when it comes to Bollywood script and its heroines.
Hencn he cannot turn to Juhi Chawla, Sri Devi or Madhuri Dixit. The SRK-Kajol on-screen chemistry has created magic in the silver screen. But things are no more rosy between once co-star and good friend Shah Rukh and Kajol.
Kajol's husband Ajay Devgn was involved in a legal tussle with Yash Raj Films during 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. The premiere of this Shah Rukh starrer movie was done in a massive scale. The entire film industry was invited but Kajol was snubbed. Kajol also went on record to say the legal tussle between her husband and YRF has spoiled her equations.
Even Shah Rukh did not stand up for Kajol - his most successful leading lady. Just a few years back Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was the undisputed King of box office. He could easily cast his charming spell on hundreds of female fans and co-actresses alike.
Now after a few unsuccessful movies, a night club fight with director Shirish Kunder, a brawl with security guards at a cricket stadium followed by a ban from entering the stadium it seems brand Shah Rukh is losing steam.
The Shah Rukh - Salman Khan enmity/friendship story has been going on for ages and has been written about for infinite number of times. He has also fallen out with best buddy Arjun Rampal. His friendship with Farah Khan also turned soar until a recent patch-up.
Questions are now being raised whether SRK is losing his charm over time. "There is something wrong in me. I sense it. I feel it but I don't know what it is," Shah Rukh said during the ThinkFest conclave, an annual event, in Goa.
He continued, "Somehow there is this feeling of emptiness. I have this restlessness, strangeness, which I fill up with my acting." SRK has definitely figured out the problem, all he has to do is find a suitable solution.
