It has been close to a year since Saif Ali Khan‘s Go Goa Gone was announced. Its USP lied in the fact that it was being pitched as Bollywood’s first ever zombie film. However as things stand today, despite making an early start, the film would be behind in race due to another zombie film, appropriately titled Rise Of The Zombie releasing first.

Zombies of Saif Ali Khan & Abhay Deol left behind

“Saif was really excited about the film and was not just producing it but also acting in it. With Kunal Khemu and Vir Das in the lead roles, it was a real riotous outing in the making with director duo of Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru promising a whacky entertainer. The very fact that it was the first ever zombie film from Bollywood was the talking point as well,” says a source.

However Luke Kenny, best remembered as Rob from Rock On, has marched ahead with much speed and is now bringing his Rise Of The Zombie on 1st February. Incidentally, he is not just producing and acting in it but also directing it.

“Last year Saif went ahead and released two of his other home productions, Agent Vinod and Cocktail. However there is no news yet on Go Goa Gone. That’s surprising since Saif was always very excited about bringing this genre to Bollywood,” the source adds.

Meanwhile the zombie jinx ended up hitting another set of filmmakers as well last year. Rock the Shaadi (formerly known as Shaadi of the Dead) is now practically shelved. That’s a disappointing as well considering the fact that this is the only Hindi film that Genelia D’Souza had green-lighted prior to her wedding.

Also, those who were waiting for Manorama-Six Feet Under director-actor ‘jodi’ of Navdeep Singh and Abhay Deol to reunite with this film would have to wait for another day as well.
