Soha Ali Khan says she doesn't feel the need to get married just yet Soha Ali Khan was more excited about meeting brother Saif Ali Khan, who's shooting in the city than anything else, while in Lucknow to inaugurate a fashion store.
Soha said, "I was more than eager to come to Lucknow, apart from professional commitments, because I could get time to spend with Bhai. Although we did meet for a day during Diwali, but we haven't had that heart-to-heart chat in a long time."
Talking of family, Soha couldn't help but think about her father, the late Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. "His passing away is a tragedy that my family has still not been able to get over. There's such a void. Thankfully, Bhai and I live in Mumbai, so we don't really have to face his absence everyday and I can still think sometimes that he's there in Delhi and I can go and hug him anytime I want.
But it's really tough for Amma and Saba, who live in Delhi and have to face the void everyday. We, as a family - Amma, Bhai, Kareena, Saba and myself - we meet as much as possible now, just to give each other strength."
Kareena's mention brought us to quiz Soha about Saif-Kareena's wedding. "It was understated, as Bhai and Kareena wanted it, and also because of our father passing away. It was a huge celebration for us family members and all our relatives from all over the world had gathered. Besides, it was just a formality. Bhai and Kareena had been together for so many years, it was just taking their relationship a step further. I loved every minute of it as I got to deck up in all the finery and have fun."
But Soha takes a back seat when asked about her own wedding. "That's a very aunty-uncle kind of question. All my relatives have been asking me this, especially since Bhai has got married. But my answer is 'not yet'. I am in a lovely relationship and I want to continue with it till I feel it's time to formalise it."
She added, "I firmly believe in a woman being confident of herself, of being financially independent and most importantly being mature and responsible enough to be a wife. I feel I still am not all that and more, and the day I feel I am, I'll get married. In fact, my mom also thinks I'm still not mature.
But jokes apart, I have a wonderful partner who believes in me and respects my decision, and I respect his. So, as of now neither of us needs to get married. We have brilliant careers and we are concentrating on those right now.
Marriage is not a priority with me right now. If you ask me, I am more concerned about my first out-and-out comedy role in Joe Bhi Karva Lo, where I am playing a cop with Arshad Warsi. We start shooting soon in India and Sri Lanka." Besides this, Soha is looking forward to the release of Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, in March next year, which sees her in an important role.
