According to the Samay correspondent, the Home Ministry has sent a proposal to PMO and asked inclusion of sports as a separate category for the selection of Bharat Ratna award.

Earlier, the Sports Ministry had asked the Home Minitry to add sports in the list following demands of Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar received from all the corners.

The Union Sports Minister Ajay Makan had written to Home Minister P Chidambaram in this regard.

At present, sports are not a separate category for the selection of awards. If PMO accepts the proposal, it will pave way for Sachin to get the prestigious award.
