Ajay Devgan says he did not want to do an action film like Singham. Ajay Devgn may have impressed everyone with the variety of roles he has undertaken off-late, but he is returning to his original strength, an action film with Singham. But whereas all his fans are waiting to see Ajay in the old avatar as an action hero, Ajay is not too happy with the idea of doing an action film and says he did not want to be a part of Singham.

Ajay told news reporters, “Though I had started-off as an action hero, I have not undertaken an all-out action role for the past eight years. I was not sure if I could do it again.” While Ajay has tried a variety of roles in the recent past, he clarifies that staying away from an action film wasn’t intentional. He adds, “I was looking for the right offer to come my way but wasn’t getting anything of that sort. And then Singham came my way. The film is hard-hitting, a complete entertainer and creates a balance between entertainment and being sensible. It also has amazing action sequences.”

The actor says that although he was doing an action film after a long time, he did not have to work extra hard to tone-up his body for his role in Singham. Surely while his fans will be thrilled to see Ajay in an action film, the promos of the film are a little disappointing as they tend to resemble last year’s super hit Dabanng. Let’s see how this similarity affects Singham and how Ajay does as he gets back to the gene that established him as an actor and helped him make big.
