In the battle of Bollywood biggies 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and 'Son of Sardaar', one real biggie - and an international one at that - which is arriving soon is 'Life of Pie'. A true blue Hollywood film with none other than Oscar winning director Ang Lee at the helm of affairs, it is notable due to it's setting that is largely made of Indian actors.
Moreover the film promises much more of Irrfan Khan when compared to his earlier Hollywood assignments like 'The Amazing Spider-man' and 'Slumdog Millionaire'. "I chose the film because of two reasons - Ang Lee as well as the challenge which this role had to offer. I knew that this is one film which would be entirely performance oriented.
Reason being that when you work on an Ang Lee film, you can't just go out there and play it simply in the same manner as you have been approaching other roles. You have to change your gears and need to explore yourself.
What indeed helps is that Ang Lee too likes to explore more about the story and its characters as he directs. To work with him and fulfil his vision, as an actor you are required to bring in a change as well", elaborates Irrfan. Now one waits to see how this indeed happened once 'Life of Pie', with Suraj Sharma (playing Pi), Tabu and Adil Hussain in principal roles, releases on 21st November.
