Chandigarh, Punjab (November 13, 2012): Ajay Devgn’s Hindi film “Son of Sardar” would hit cinemas across India today. The Bollywood’s latest masala-action-comedy had invited controversy as various Sikh circles had objected to certain scenes and dialogues released in a promo of the movie. Promo was officially released on YouTube.

It is notable that Ajay Devgn held conversations with Sikh representatives at Amritsar on September 03, 2012 and promised in front of media to remove all objectionable content. Meanwhile, a local advocate and political activist moved a complaint against Ajay Devgn under sections 295-A (blasphemy) and Section 500/501 (defamation) of Indian Penal Code for portraying Sikhs in bad-light.

It is learnt that Ajay Devgn may have removed the objectionable contents from the movie as Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) secretary Daljit Singh Bedi had reportedly extended verbal clean chit to the movie after watching it in a local Amritsar cinema few days ago.

But a local court at Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab is schedule to hold arguments for summoning Ajay Devgn on November 19, 2012. While talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, complainant against Ajay Devgn, claimed that their “cause of action” still holds good and he was confident that the court would issue summons to Ajay Devgn as what he (Ajay) did, gave rise to lawful action.
