Oye teri!!! Baap re baap. Superb Ajay’s body is looking. Too good (sic)…’ That was Salman Khan’s Twitter reaction to Devgn’s Singham look. The ‘Lion’ responds with: “That’s sweet, and coming from Salman who has the best body in the industry, a huge compliment.”
Ajay worked on his body for two months before he started work on Rohit Shetty’s action thriller that requires him to fight 10 baddies at the same time. “It’s not as if I needed to start from scratch, I just had to tone up a bit,” says Devgn. Quiz him on the recent trend of actors building six and eight-packs to showcase on screen and Ajay points out that it’s not male vanity but the need to get into character that has his contemporaries and him heading to the gym.
“The hero is a cop who follows the time-honoured tradition in Hindi cinema, chasing after the goons and pounding them to pulp. You need muscles for that,” he reasons. Fortunately for Ajay, he doesn’t need to go on a weight-reduction spree once the Singham publicity wave dies down because for his next film, Rohit’s comic caper, Bol Bachchan, he needs to bulk up the toned body. “It should be fun,” he smiles.
Ajay returned his buddy’s compliment with one of his own. “Salman’s Bodyguard is geared up with chartbuster numbers. Fabulous music, it’s heading for a blockbuster,” he tweeted, insisting that he absolutely believes in what he says. “I’ve heard four songs of Bodyguard and they are fabulous.” The first trailer of Bodyguard will release along with Singham in theatres this Friday. Ajay has the last word on the changing equation with Salman: “Professionally, both of us go back a long way. We are friends and support each other.”
