Shahid Kapoor shares a special bond with younger brother Ishaan Khattar. Ishaan, 17, is Shahid's mother Neelima Azeem's son with husband Rajesh Khattar. In fact, Shahid and Ishaan are so close that they even acted together in the film, Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi (2005).

On November 1, it was Ishaan's birthday and Shahid had a packed schedule. But the fact that he couldn't meet Ishaan was bothering him. So he eventually decided to cancel all his appointments for the day, even though he had just started shooting for Phata Poster Nikhla Hero with Rajkumar Santoshi, and spend time with his brother.

A source close to the actor says, "Shahid loves Ishaan and makes it a point to be there for him. Even a few days ago, when Ishaan was performing at a show for Shiamak Davar, Shahid took time out from his rehearsals and attended the show. He didn't only sit through Ishaan's part, but stayed for the entire evening."

The source adds, "On Ishaan's birthday, they did all the things Ishaan loves and called all his friends too." Shahid even took Ishaan and his friends for a spin in his brand new red Jaguar. A spokesperson on behalf of Shahid says, "Shahid is extremely close to his younger brother, so he took the day off."
