When you get out of the airport, you either take the green channel if you have nothing to declare to the customs department, or you approach the custom officials and pay the requiredduty for the goods you are carrying. And that’s exactly what actor Shah Rukh Khan did when he arrived from London last Thursday.
He was carrying branded products in approximately 20 bags and approached the customs officials through a friend, who was travelling with him. "His assistant told us that Khan wanted to declare the gifts that he was carrying for his staff members and friends. He also filled up the necessary form for that and paid a duty according to the receipts given to him. He was not fined," informsa source from the customs department, who adds that anybody carrying 20 bags has to through a mandatory customs check.
"Shah Rukh never attempted to take the green channel like actor Minnisha Lamba did before we intercepted her. Rather he came to us directly and waited while we tallied the things declared and calculated the duty that had to be paid," said the customs department official.
"There were a lot of branded luxury items in his bags including cosmetics, sunglasses, clothes etc," the customs official revealed. The total duty that the actor finally paid roughly amounts to Rs1.5 lakh. He was returning with his family from a vacation in Holland and had come via London.
