Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who is set to make his small screen debut as a host of controversial reality show "Bigg Boss 5", is very upbeat about creating 'double dhamaal' with friend, actor, and co-host Salman Khan on the show. "I'm extremely delighted that I am making my foray into television through a concept like 'Bigg Boss' - a show that holds a nation's attention for more than three months," Sanjay Dutt said in a statement. The 51-year-old, who was recently seen in the comedy film "Double Dhamaal", is also excited about teaming up with Salman, who hosted the last season of "Bigg Boss".
"I loved watching Salman host the last season… I thought he was mind-blowing with his sense of humor and inimitable style," said Sanjay. The two actors featured together in films like "Saajan" and "Chal Mere Bhai". Even Salman is looking forward to working with Sanjay once again.
"I think it's a great move by Colors to also sign up Sanjay Dutt for 'Bigg Boss Season-5'. It can only mean one thing for the viewers - more excitement and a differentiated appeal for this season," said Salman, who is happy to be back with the show.
"I greatly enjoyed working on 'Bigg Boss' last season and received a lot of positive response from fans and well-wishers alike. It's an exciting format that makes for compelling viewing and I am glad to be back for another season," he added.
Channel officials hope the chemistry between the two actors benefits the show. "Given the way 'Bigg Boss' has been performing over the last four seasons, growing from strength to strength, this year we plan to leverage the chemistry and talent of Sanjay and Salman and with our plans on the content front, we are confident to make the show even bigger," said Ashvini Yardi, head of programming, Colors.
"Bigg Boss" has 14 handpicked celebrities locked in a house for close to 96 days - with over 50 cameras following their moves 24x7. "Over the last three years, Colors has taken 'Bigg Boss' to newer heights of entertainment and popularity. Now, with both Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt as hosts, we're sure that the appeal of 'Bigg Boss 5' will touch unprecedented heights," added Yardi.
