In happy space! Clad in a simple, pale pink saree, Asha says, "I'm in a happy space right now, and I don't miss staying away from the arc lights. Recently, I celebrated my 70th birthday and I was glad to see guests from film industry turning up for the party to wish me.
Though I'm not working in films anymore, everyone is in constant touch with me. I also get a chance to catch up with old-time my co-stars and filmmakers in award functions and social gatherings. So, I'm not completely out of touch with the film world."
Interesting subjects The yesteryear actress appreciates the current choice of subjects on which the Bollywood movies are being made. "These days, films are being made on a lot of interesting and unusual subjects.
In fact, I saw Barfi recently and I really enjoyed watching the brilliant performances," says she, and adds, "Amongst the new-age actors, I feel Ranbir Kapoor is immensely talented. I'm also impressed with Vidya Balan and simply loved her in Kahaani and The Dirty Picture."
Beautiful Nagpur Asha was in the city for a Durga Puja event. Ask her how does she find the City of Oranges, and she says, "Khoob sundar! I used to come to Nagpur regularly 30 years back, as my aunt used to reside here. But sadly, now that she is no more, my trips to Nagpur have diminished."
She also got emotional to hear about the sudden demise of Yash Chopra. "I never got a chance to work with Yashji. But, since both of us were members of Film Industry Welfare Trust, we interacted a lot. His death is indeed a great loss to the industry. I remember Yashji chatting with me and spending a lot of time with me during my birthday party on October 2," says she.
