Though Sujoy Ghosh’s Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani didn’t make it to the Oscars, it is still going places. Kahaani has been named the Best Film at the International Film Festival in Fiji. The two-week long gala was organised in partnership with the Indian High Commission and organised by Fiji National University and Film Fiji.

According to an Indian HC statement, “The Festival had opened with the screening of Kahaani. Over 250 entries were received and out of which about 125 films were screened in Suva and other cities.” Kahaani is also the only Indian film in IMDB’s Top 50 Thrillers list, and this is another feather in the cap of the makers.

Another B-town celeb who won an award at the film fest in the idyllic island nation was is Rajkumar Hirani, named the Best Director for his Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor-R Madhavan-Sharman Joshi starrer, 3 Idiots.

The Fiji Film Festival featured a range of diverse international and local film entries including French, Russian, Middle Eastern films, Bollywood blockbusters and Bengali classics. It is good to see that desi talent is being acknowledged and lauded far and wide.
