Actors Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna's little bundle of joy has arrived home and from what we hear she has already been christened. Akshay and Twinkle have decided to call her Nitara Khanna Bhatiya, according to media reports. We did a double take when we heard that one.
Now, the Sanskrit meaning of the name Nitara is 'having deep roots'. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the Khanna is a tribute to Twinkle's father and veteran actor Rajesh Khanna who passed away in July this year. But here's the quirky thing. Nitara is also a character in the game series Mortal Kombat. Akshay and Twinkle have a 10-year-old son Aarav.
Nitara is said to be a vampiress in the series who "spends a long time trying to find a mysterious orb that binds her realm to Outworld before actually discovering its location," said a description of her in the page listing all the Mortal Kombat characters. She features prominently in the series MK: Armageddon. Twinkle delivered on September 25 and Akshay, whose film Oh My God opened last Friday to generally positive reviews, thanked fans for their prayers.
