Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal were in Ahmedabad last week to promote their flick Oh my God! and the visit was short and sweet! No starry appearances, no loud speeches on how people must watch the film and no great comments on what the story and characters are all about. They were punctual, sat on the chairs and waited for people to throw questions at them. Akshay Kumar looked dapper in his black shirt and trousers and Paresh Rawal was dressed in his traditional kurta-pyjama.
On asked if Akshay had taken a fancy to Gujarati literature and scripts because earlier also he has done films based on Gujarati plays, he replied saying that he has always been around Gujaratis and there is a comfort level working with Paresh Rawal. He said, "Paresh is not only my colleague but also my working partner now. In this flick I play Lord Krishna and he is universal for everyone. We planned this film not because we wanted to make money at the box-office, but it is a film that everyone should see because of the emotions and complexity of relationships involved."
Rawal who was generally replying to questions in one-liner sentences opened up after he was asked some relevant questions regarding filmmaking in Bollywood. He commented on the progress of Gujarat and said that if good quality is maintained, it is not difficult to make a film that will both win the critics' reviews and make money at the box-office.
Akshay who frequently visits Gujarat for his film promotions did not promote his earlier flick Joker. He says, "I don't know if a film will be a hit whether a star will promote it or not! It does not matter how big the promotions are, at the end of the day a film works, only if the content is good." The event was short but it gave the people an honest yet interesting interaction with the 100 crore club star Akshay Kumar and the supremely talented Paresh Rawal.
