India A-New Zealand A game ends in a tie

India A-New Zealand A match ended in a thrilling tie via the Duckworth-Lewis method here at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval on Friday. Chasing 241 for victory in a rain-truncated second unofficial ODI, India A fell short by one run. After a fine start by their top three batsmen, India A faltered in the middle and towards the end.

India A lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opener. New Zealand, batting first, scored 249/9 but India A target was revised following bad light. They had to get 241 from 48 overs but ended 240/9. Left-arm paceman Jaydev Unadkat took 4/47 for India.

In the chase, captain and opener Abhinav Mukund hit a half century while number three batsman Naman Ojha too contributed a fifty. Left-hander Mukund topscored for India with 66 while Ojha had 62 runs. Unmukt Chand got 23. In the middle order, Ambati Rayudu carried India's hopes with an unbeaten 46 but he could not help the team cross the finishline.

Paceman Andy McKay took 5/50 for New Zealand. Earlier, Neil Broom had hit 82 while George Walker made 61. The third and final match of the series will be played on Sunday.
