Revealed: Yash Chopra-SRK film is called Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Yash Chopra's next film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma is certainly among the most anticipated films this year, with reams of press generated about Shah Rukh's role as an army officer and his first visit ever to Kashmir to shoot for the film. Yet, the name of the film has been a well-kept secret, even though it's just a couple of months away from releasing.

Till now. Trade analyst and Bollywood insider Taran Adarsh tweets: "Breaking: Yash Chopra's new film is called 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. Stars @iamsrk Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma" And the film's poster - just revealed - confirms that Mr Adarsh is not throwing another red herring our way. Jab Tak Hai Jaan it is, a title borrowed from the lyrics of a song - Basanti's finale number from Sholay - just like that first Chopra-SRK collaboration, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

Taran Adarsh pips Shah Rukh Khan to the post. SRK tweeted this morning: "Tomorrow...the title of yashji's film will be released. Would tell u now...but will have to kidnap u all and keep u tied down..ha ha." It's still unclear why the name of the film was kept so secret. "Yashji has come up with the final title, but he is not revealing it to anyone," the film's spokesperson had said. According to sources, "Whenever anyone asks, he just smiles and says, 'We will all know soon.'"

After rumours of London Ishq and Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum as likely names were scotched, it was revealed that the untitled project would be given a name on September 27, Yash Chopra's 80th birthday. Clearly, the Chopras had a change of heart. Jab Tak Hain Jaan was referred to as 'production #45' and 'new production' by the cast and crew during filming.

But while the name of the film may have been shrouded in mystery all this while, the names of its lead characters are not. Shah Rukh Khan plays military man Samar, Katrina Kaif plays Khushi and Anushka Sharma, who's role is really an extended cameo, plays Muskaan. The romantic flick is slated to release this Diwali on November 13, 2012. It will mark the return of Yash Chopra to the director's seat eight years after his last film - Veer Zaara starring SRK, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji.
