Akshay Kumar-starrer "Joker", which released on 31st August, 2012, failed to amuse the box office . According to boxoffice.com, "Joker"opened to a poor response of around 20 per cent on its first day. Joker's opening collections were better at single screens comparatively than at multiplexes.

"Joker" is an comedy about an NRI (Akshay Kumar) and his wife (Sonakshi Sinha) who return home to discover that their village has dropped off the map of India and how they put it back on the world's radar. Among other films, "Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi" too did not have a good weekend, netting about Rs 9 crore, according to boxoffice.com. The film did comparatively better in Mumbai than the rest of the country.
