Heroine is 80 per cent reality: Kareena Kapoor

Madhur Bhandarkar is known to mirror reality in most of his films and Kareena Kapoor says his latest project Heroine is eighty per cent based on real life. Kareena Kapoor plays the role of Bollywood actress Mahi Arora in the film which revolves around the ups and downs in the life of a superstar.

The film reportedly incorporates many incidents from the lives of actresses in the Hindi film industry.  For instance, Kareena's character is said to attend screenings of her films in a burkha, just like Preity Zinta is believed to have done in real life. "I think the film is 80 per cent based on reality. I have been watching it while dubbing for the film and I am shocked! After viewing this film, people will know what happens in the personal life of actresses," said Kareena, who was in the NCR to promote the film.

After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan pulled out of the film last year due to pregnancy, Kareena, who was Madhur's initial choice, stepped in to play the lead role. "I am glad the film finally came to me as I was keen on working with Madhur since watching Chandni Bar. I am happy I've worked with him in his best film," said Kareena Kapoor. The 31-year-old actress said she did not have any apprehensions taking up the film after Aishwarya Rai opted out. "I didn't have any misgiving, nor am I wary of any comparisons. I have played the role my way, no one has played such a role before."

Heroine has smoking as well as bold scenes and has been given an 'A' certificate, which might cause a problem for satellite viewing of the movie. Recently, The Dirty Picture had to undergo several cuts in order to be finally aired on TV. "I think it is wrong to discriminate between films on the basis of smoking or bold scenes and barring them from being telecast on TV. There are many other channels people can turn to which show such scenes," she said.
