Anil Kapoor's official remake of American TV series '24' has been in the making for many months now. Kapoor had bought the rights and announced the project way back last year, and had even roped in Abhinay Deo to direct it. Rensil D’silva, Bhavani Iyer and Priya Pinto were to pen the script.
However, our sources tell us that the makers have asked the writers to make the show 'more Indian', and that is apparently the reason behind the project’s delay. Incidentally, the channel that was originally said to air the show later pulled out, citing that the content was too bold. Kapoor is said to have then contacted other channels.
A source says, "He even invited original writer of '24', Patrick Harbinson to India for guiding his team of writers and incorporate essential changes. At the moment, Kapoor is busy beefing up his muscles to play Keifer Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer and is likely to begin shooting by end of this year." Bhavani Iyer refused to comment on the reason behind the delay and said, "The project is definitely on. We are working on the script at the moment and it is a long process."
