After hitting a few boundaries, Sehwag too didn’t last for long and was once again run-out after scoring 34 runs. Rohit Sharma’s poor form continued as he played 14 balls for his 4. Thereafter, Manoj Tiwary who was included in the playing eleven added 49 runs along with Kohli for fourth wicket before being dismissed by Jeevan Mendis.
After losing four wickets for just 109 runs, Kohli along with Suresh Raina shared an unbeaten 146-run stand for the fifth wicket that clinched the series for India. Earlier in the day, Manoj Tiwary picked up four wickets as Sri Lanka managed to score 251 runs at the end of 50 overs.
Dilshan (42) and Tharanga (51) got their team off to a good start as they added 81 runs for the first wicket. The middle order batsmen couldn’t capitalise the solid foundation and towards the end, the Lanka failed to put a formidable score in a crucial match. The highlight of the match was Kohli’s century. The 23-year-old is now used to scoring centuries and the Sri Lankans like always had no clue how to stop the genius right-hander.
