Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra get notice for ‘indecent dancing’

If all the controversies that dogged this year’s Indian Premier League were not enough by count, a new one has brewed up in its fading wake. The Madurai bench of Madras High Court has ordered the issuance of notice to the aforementioned Bollywood stars for their alleged ‘indecent dancing’ at the inauguration of IPL at YMCA grounds in Chennai on April 3.

The petition has reportedly been filed by an advocate named K Jebakumar who alleges that the performances at the IPL inauguration were “indecent” and unsuitable for viewing by “women and children”, who, in his opinion, were left embarrassed after seeing the “uncensored” act both live and on TV.

The name of the American pop star Katy Perry, who performed at the inauguration, is also mentioned in the petition. Also mentioned is the cricketer Douglas Bollinger and IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla. The IPL opening in April was a star-studded affair with performances by Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Katy Perry. If the case of the petitioner turns out strong, the Bollywood stars could be charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code.
