After the success of Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW) at the box office, audiences are now eagerly awaiting the release of its sequel. While part one was about Sardar Khan, played by Manoj Bajpayee, the sequel, which releases on August 8, will be the story of his son Faisal Khan, played by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Nawazzuddin’s character Faisal is inspired by real-life don Faheem Khan, who was the kingpin of Wasseypur’s coal mafia, and is currently in jail. Apparently, his wife is anxious about the manner in which her husband has been portrayed in the movie. She even sent a request to the local distributors of GOW 2 in Dhanbad, asking for a screening of the film.
A source from the production house confirms, “Yes, the distributors of GOW 2 in Dhanbhad got in touch with us and informed us of her request. As of now, no decision has been taken on it.” Director Anurag Kashyap was unavailable for comment as he is in Hungary.
GOW 2 is a tale of vengeance, focussing on the new generation of hot-headed gangs in Wasseypur. They deal in the illegal scrap trade, conduct auctions on the Internet and also indulge in bribery, election rigging and lobbying for power. Faisal Khan, now a powerful man, is in the midst of all this, yet is obsessed with killing Ramadhir Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia) to avenge his father’s death.
