Whether it was leaked or the filmmakers themselves released the song is not yet known, but ever since it was posted online, ‘I want Fakht you’ went viral. The song is from Shirish Kunder’s ‘Joker’ which stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. It could be a co-incidence or a calculated marketing strategy, but the song leaked just two days before the official trailer of the film was to be released. As the song went viral, producer Farah Khan hurriedly released the trailer of the film as well on Wednesday night.
But interestingly the song that got leaked was an older version. ‘I want fakht you’, was changed to ‘I want just you’ shortly after it was composed to avoid getting into any sort of controversy. A miffed Shirsh Kunder spoke to DNA and said, “This song is the highlight of the film which is picturised on Chitrangda. After a special screening with a focussed audience group, we got the feedback that the word ‘fakht’ should be changed to compliment the ‘U’ certificate our film has got. These things happen when usually we have a crowd sequence being shot.
This leak must have happened either from the recording studio or from one of the dancers, who usually have the songs to rehearse their steps. We are still trying to figure out who the culprit is and then we will see how we can take this forward. We want to ensure strict punishment is meted out to the culprit since it is illegally done.”
Earlier on Wednesday, both Farah and Shirish expressed shock over the leak and took to Twitter to express their anger. Farah posted, “What the !! just found out that our Joker song has bn leaked on You tube!! Will get a heart attack 2day 4 sure!!. We had changed the I want fakht u 2 I want Just you sometime ago! this is the old version thts leaked.(sic)”
